Hemingford Class of 2009 Graduates
Twenty-Six Graduates received diplomas in a ceremony that featured a packed gymnasium of family members and well-wishers Sunday in Hemingford.

Valedictorian Katie Hughart and Salutatorian Ashley Yardley gave encouraging addresses for the Class of 2009, and the Senior Slide Show, created by Senior Allison Ludlow entertained the crowd.

Board of Education members Alan Roland and Bob Haas assisted School Superintendent Casper Ningen in handing our diplomas and congratulating the members of the class. The graduates were provided commemorative gold coins from the board along with their diplomas.

Music was provided by Mrs. Sue Shaver, who played the keyboard before the ceremony as well as entrance music. Ramona Hucke, school counselor, announced scholarship winners as well as honor students.

Class members Heston Paris and Shelby Campbell handled the invocation, while Joe Bob Haas and Jordan Petersen read a history through the years of the Class of 2009. The Benediction was done by Kelly Marie and Taya Green-Lembke.

Mrs. Barb Jespersen was awarded this year’s Spirit of Hemingford High School for her efforts in many areas of the School Booster Club. Cathy Fingar and Cindy Ahrens served as Senior Class Sponsors. The Secondary Principal at HHS is Mrs. Peggy Thayer.

The class was dressed in White and Black gowns, and White, Black and Pink tulips, the Class Flowers were displayed throughout the gym. The Class moved their tassels following their official notice of graduation, and tossed their mortarboards into the air. The Class Song, “These are the Days”, by Exies, played as graduates left the gym. Family and friends were able to congratulate all of the class in a receiving line bathed in sunshine, as the rain clouds waited.

The Class motto: “Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go”, by T.S. Eliot.
