(L) Hemingford @ Sidney vs North Platte St. Pats, March 4th (District Final) (59-60) OT

Comments: "What an effort by our guys Tuesday night in an absolute heartbreaking loss for a shot at a state tourney berth. This one will sting us for awhile as we really had them on the ropes early on, jumping out to a 15-0 lead heading into the second quarter up 17-6. Give credit to the Irish as they regrouped and fought back into the fray. The last 3 minutes of the 4th quarter and first couple minutes of overtime showed our resolve as we willed ourselves back to a tie on Matthew Wood's buzzer beater! Then to jump out to a 4 point lead in OT, things were looking good for us, but we just couldn't quite hold on.

I  felt it was certainly a heck of a season for us, with our 7 losses to very quality teams and 18 wins is an excellent accomplishment. I'd like to end by congratulating our guys and thanking them for their efforts. We will miss our four seniors, Blake Hansen, Kyle Kaman, Jameson Forgey, and Matthew Mayer, but wish them well in their futures. I would also like to congratulate Matthew Wood on joining the 1000 point club, as Matthew has scored 1005 points already in his career and will certainly have his sights on the school record heading into his senior season.

And lastly, I would like to acknowledge and thank all our fans and the whole Bobcat Nation for all their incredible support this year. We truly do have an amazing support system, deeply appreciated by the players and coaches."

(W) Hemingford @ Mitchell vs Potter-Dix, Feb. 27th (70-49) (Sub-Dist Final)

Comments: "We had great energy tonight helped by our partisan Bobcat Nation fans! I thought we really played well from about the middle of the first quarter on. We received outstanding play from all our guys tonight. I applaud Potter-Dix also.

I thought they played with a sense of urgency to keep fighting in this game until the end. We are certainly proud of our guys and look forward to the District Final next Tuesday."

(W) Hemingford @ Mitchell vs Morrill , Feb. 25th, 2014 (60-21) ( Sub-District Semi-Final)

Comments: "It was a dominating first round performance by the Bobcats! I thought we played well in all phases of the game, starting with our defensive presence and pressure. We were very efficient offensively and we knocked down shots which always helps, especially with the guys confidence.

We are looking forward to the sub district final Thursday against Potter-Dix. We appreciate the Bobcat fans who braved the elements and road conditions to support our team!"

(W) Hemingford @ Crawford, Feb. 21, 2014 (71-27)

Comments: " It was a good way for our four seniors, Jameson Forgey, Matthew Mayer, Kyle Kaman, and Blake Hansen to end their regular season careers in front of a partisan home crowd. I would like to extend my congratulations to these young men and their parents and thank them for their hard work and efforts.

Their contributions to Bobcat Basketball helped pave the way for the solid footing our program has achieved. As for the game itself, I thought we approached in a workman like fashion and once again we were solid defensively, also, once we started hitting some shots, we were pretty efficient on offense. We look forward to the post season as we prepare for sub district play."

(L) Hemingford @ Kimball, Feb. 14, 2014

Comments: "This was a tough game as we had to deal with some adverse circumstances beyond our control which certainly impacted how this game was played. I was proud of our guys regaining their composure and competing at a very high level the second half.

We shot the ball much better after halftime as we connected for 6 3's in the final two quarters, highlighted by Matthew Wood's 4 and Kyle Kaman's 2. Matthew finished with 5 3 pointers and Kyle knocked down 3 treys for the game. We cut their 17 point lead to 8 and their 15 point lead to 6, but had to spend a lot of energy each time on defense and Kimball responded with a run each time we cut the deficit.

Very proud of our guys effort and resiliency to bounce back against such a quality opponent with their home court advantage."

(W) Hemingford @ Morrill, Feb. 11, 2014

Comments: "I was proud of how our guys came out and established us from a defensive energy standpoint. I was proud of how we kept our composure offensively even though we weren't shooting the ball well or scoring at a pace we would have liked the first 3 quarters of the game.

In the 4th quarter, all of a sudden we get hot shooting the ball and get some transition buckets, and hit our free throws, next thing you know we put 35 on the board in that quarter. It was a really solid WTC win for us, heightened by the fact we went deeper on our bench in minutes played by a couple guys; Matthew Mayer, Jameson Forgey, and Tanner Benge all responded with in absence of injured point guard Brady Turek.

Matthew Wood did a very good job filling that spot, Blake Hansen and Kyle Kaman were outstanding on defense as always and Colt Foster had a monster 4th quarter for us."

(W)   @ Minatare, Feb. 10, 2014 (71-45)

Comments: "We had an excellent bounce back win over a good Minatare contingent on their home court. While the game was close the first half, we used a little spurt the last couple minutes of the half, led by Brady Turek's buzzer beater to forge a 7 point halftime advantage.

We extended that lead to 17 at the end of the 3rd and coasted to a comfortable 71-45 "W". Our top two scoring leaders on the season continued their ways with Matthew Wood scoring 20 and Colt Foster adding 15.

We also got a huge lift off the bench from Jameson Forgey with 14. We'll try to ride the momentum from this game into our contest tomorrow night with Morrill."

(L) Hemingford vs Mitchell, (WTC Tourney Consolations, Feb. 8, 2014 (48-50)

Comments: "We were pretty flat on Saturday against a quality Mitchell club. We didn't bounce back as well as we would've hoped and consequently, lost another heart breaker in the waning few seconds.

We will have to try to get some swagger back Monday and Tuesday at Minatare and Morrill, respectively so we feel good about our game Friday as we make the trip for a return match up with Kimball.

We would like to extend our congratulations to Coach Chatelain and the girls for their BIG win versus Kimball in the WTC Consolation final. Great job ladies and coaches!"

(L) Hemingford vs Kimball, (WTC Tourney Second Round), Feb. 7, 2014 (49-52)

Comments: "We battled extremely hard against a very good Kimball team, highlighted by our ability to hold Michael Daum scoreless through 3 full quarters and to a total of 10 points which was 15 below his season average. Unfortunately, we didn't score very well through those first 3 periods and came up a play or two short at the end.

Special kudos to Kyle Kaman and Jameson  Forgey for their efforts defensively in chasing Daum and Matthew Wood for a great all around game for us. Certainly a valiant effort by our guys, but we
were disappointed that we couldn't finish with a win and advance to the WTC Championship game."

(W) Hemingford vs Morrill, (WTC Tourney First Round) (H), Feb. 6, 2014 (65-27)

Comments: "After a bit of a slow start offensively, we were able to capitalize on our defensive pressure to get transition baskets to jump start us in the scoring column.

It was a good team win with many contributions from all our guys, so we are pleased with our efforts. We look forward to competing at Cougar Palace in the WTC Tournament."

(W) Hemingford @ Edgemont, February 1st, 2014 (80-30)

Comments: I was really pleased with our guys' energy to start this game. It was tough getting on the bus coming back a week after we had played them in our PAC final. Really thought our guys got a lift from our JV kids with their super effort to start the day for us.

We dominated statistically against the Moguls and helped our cause with balanced scoring, hitting the 3 ball with 9-21, led by Matthew Wood's 5, and great bench contribution. Now we go into what we call "Judgement Week" starting with a tough contest at a hot Minatare team and then into WTC Tournament play, hosting Morrill Thursday night.

We look forward to the challenges that lie ahead of us this week and call on Bobcat Nation to once
again lead the charge into battle for us!"

(W) Hemingford vs Hay Springs, January 28, 2014 (55-23)

Comments: "While it certainly didn't rank high in style points, it was a good
win nonetheless. I felt like we let our shooting woes affect our offensive
execution and that hampered us. The thing we did very well was play defense and
rebound the basketball. We ended with a 20-6 edge on the offensive boards and a
46-30 advantage overall. We'll have a couple days of great practice leading into
our game at Edgemont and shore up some things offensively that will lead us into
a busy week with a good Minatare team and the WTC Tourney"

(W) Hemingford vs Edgemont, January 25, 2014 (70-29)

PANHANDLE CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS !

Comments: "In Saturday's championship game versus Edgemont we again got out to
an outstanding start, beginning with our defensive intensity, to jump out to a
19-3 at the end of the first stanza. Up 39-16 at the half allowed us to extend
our bench play and again, I felt we were very solid on both ends of the court.
We are proud to be 4 time defending PAC champs and would like to extend our
congratulations to the Lady Cats for their championship efforts and also thank
our many loyal Bobcat fans for their continued support. GUBN & SUBN!!"

(W) Hemingford vs Crawford, January 24, 2014 (77-18)

Comments: "We played very well on both ends of the floor against Crawford. We
emphasized getting off to a fast start and we certainly did just that by jumping
out to a 22-0 lead after one quarter. We had excellent balanced scoring with
great production off our bench with 22 points in addition to our starters
pouring in 55. I thought it was a very solid outing by our guys to propel us
into the championship game."

(W) Hemingford vs Sioux County, January 18, 2014 (81-29)

Comments: "We played very well tonight after we got going offensively. We had 4
starters in double figures scoring with our fifth starter adding 9 points to our
total and we added 11 points off our bench. of our 32 field goals 27 of them
came off assists which is 84% which is off the charts in that department. We
really dominated almost every category statistically leading to an impressive
display of basketball and a big win for us."

(W) Hemingford @ Bayard  January 17, 2014 (57-32)

Comments: "Defensively we were outstanding as we held Bayard to only 32 points,
made more impressive as they averaged 70 through their last 2 contests. I felt
we ran the ball on the break very well and utilized Colt in our half court
offense fairly efficiently. I'm really pleased with our efforts to come away
with a very good conference win on the road."

(W) Hemingford @ Banner County, January 11, 2014 (83-36)

(W) Hemingford vs Garden County, January 10, 2014 (75-36)

Coaches Comments: We came out with tremendous energy this contest, especially on the
defensive end as we really made it difficult for Garden County to get anything
going offensively. Even though we struggled for awhile ourselves offensively, we
used our defensive energy to kick start our offense and played a very solid game
against a respectable opponent

(L) Hemingford @ CSC ( Buffalo, WY). December 28th (45-58)

Coaches Comments: We played an excellent first half against a very good Buffalo, WY
squad. They hit a couple 3's in the third to force us out of our zone and just
as Bridgeport and Valentine did in earlier contests, made free throws in the 4th
quarter to stave off our comeback attempt. These two games in Chadron will help
us as we played against very good competition and competed very well both games.
We would like to thank all the great Hemingford fans for their support in all of
our December contests. We have truly appreciated the efforts of Bobcat Nation
and look forward to an exciting season as the basketball campaign unfolds the
next couple months.

(L) Hemingford @ CSC (Valentine), December 27th (45-50)

(W) Hemingford @ Leyton, December 21st (58-39)

(L) Bridgeport at Hemingford, December 20th (54-64)

Coaches Comments: A very competitive early season game between two hard nosed teams. Bridgeport jumped out to an early lead and was up 9-2 at the end of the first quarter. The Bulldogs stretched the lead to 29-15 at the half. Things really heated up the second half as the Bobcats made several runs closing to 5 points a couple times in each of the final quarters, but Bridgeport responded to the challenge by making 14-18 free throws in the 4th quarter to salt the game away with a 64-54 win.

(W) Mitchell @ Hemingford , December 14th (67-55)

(W) Hemingford @ Hyannis, December 7th (83-37)

(W) Gordon/Rushville @ Hemingford, December 6th (75-37)
