School's Back in Session!

August 15, 2006
Students in grades K-12 were wearing new school clothes and big smiles as they returned to classes Wednesday, August 16th. Parents said good-bye to our youngest students in person, and assemblies were held for the elementary with Ron Foster, Elementary Principal, and in the high school with secondary Principal, Peggy Thayer.
Students were able to get into their lockers, elect class officers, and spend shortened periods from 8:30 AM - 1:00 PM with each of their instructors in the junior - senior high school.
In the elementary, teachers introduced new students, and many classes took tours of the campus in class groups. The younger grades will be spending some time this week in the Hemingford Pool under the direction of Phys. Ed. Instructor Nancy Giorgi, while the older students were involved in lectures and discussions following their kick-off the year pep-rally, sponsored by the Hemingford student council and Sponsor Bridget Harris.
Cross Country, volleyball, and football practice is already underway for grades 9-12, with junior high fall sports to get started soon.
In addition to the class of eighteen kindergarteners, there are fifteen other students in grades 1-12 that are new to Hemingford this year.
