Chick Observation Day
To complete the egg embryology lesson, one day is set aside to observe the chicks and their behaviors. On Wednesday May 17th both third grade classes combined and made a large circle on the floor. After a protective sheet was placed on the floor all of the chicks were placed on the floor in the middle of the students. While the students were extremely quiet and sat motionless the chicks huddled together and slowly adjusted to their new surroundings. The chicks finally were comfortable and started making their rounds looking for food. This years hatch of chicks were very friendly and seemed to really enjoy the students even eating out of their hands. The observation was a great way for students to see how the chicks react to change, sudden movement and loud noises. The chicks have made their new home on a farm close by.
