FFA grosses over $17,000.00 on Oyster Feed and auction.
April, 2015
The Hemingford FFA recently held their 7th annual Oyster feed and labor/project auction. This was another great year for the event which generated over $17,000.00 in gross income. After all expenses are paid the chapter will have around $6000.00 to fund operations during the next year and $4025.00 in scholarships for the four graduating seniors. In the labor auction members averaged $344.00 each and the project auction brought in $2505.00 for next year’s materials purchases. Darby and Autumn Jespersen donated a 2000 Ford Focus which generated $950.00 in funds for a community service project. Attendees were treated to an all you can (or want) to eat oyster / fish fry and the chance to win door prizes donated by local businesses. Joe Schekall of Hemingford won the grand door prize, a 2000 Lincoln Town Car. The Hemingford FFA is amazed and grateful to the Hemingford Community for their generosity in supporting our organization. Income from the event goes to pay for student activities such as leadership camps, meals and lodging for contests and state convention, community service projects, the purchase of official dress for members and scholarships for graduating members.
