Third Round of State Play-offs is New Territory

Tuesday, November 12th at 1:00 PM (MT)

Quarter-Final State Play-offs

The Home Team

As you’re heading east on I-80, just a few miles before Kearney, a person can pull off the interstate and find Elm Creek, Nebraska, just to the north and home of the Blue and Gold Buffalos.

The third round opponent for Hemingford in the 2013 State Football Play-offs have a similar record in the play-off system as that of Hemingford, reaching state a dozen times, and winning six games prior to this season.

Each team of this tough match-up has won twice in the 2013 play-offs, boosting Elm Creek’s record to (9-1), while HHS has a (10-0) won loss record.

The Buffalos have made it to the Quarter-Finals twice before 2013, where just eight teams remain in Class D1, while this will be the first year that Hemingford has played this late into the playoff season.

Elm Creek has also beaten Niobrara/ Verdigre (54-14); and Burwell (59-20) in the first two 2013 State Play-off rounds. Their lone defeat came at the hands of undefeated Overton (13-20) earlier in the season.

The Match Up

This ballgame will feature a more-seasoned Bobcat club after the physical matchup they had with Chambers/Wheeler Central. Hemingford had to work hard in their second playoff game, but has some real confidence as they head into the third round. Wrapping up ball carriers and staying with secondary assignments will be key on defense, and getting into the end-zone for extra points will be critical for a Cat victory.

Time, Date, Game Info

Game time is set for 1:00 PM (MT) on Tuesday, November 12th in Elm Creek. Admission remains at $7 for adults and $5 for K-12 Students as set by the NSAA. Radio Station KAAQ of Alliance will broadcast the game at 105.9 FM for those that may not be able to make it to the game in person.

Travel News

There will be a Band Bus from Hemingford, as well as a Student fan bus and Adult fan bus if the numbers are there. Departure the day of the game will require travelers to depart by 6AM and remember the time-zone change to the east. The trip home will get fans into Hemingford around 10 PM Tuesday night.

Down the Road

The winner of this third round game in D1 will play the winner of the (10-0) Overton @ ((9-1) Twin Loup/Sargent game on Monday, November 18th in the State Semi-Finals!
