Quarter-Final State Play-offs
The Home Team
As you’re heading east on I-80, just a few miles before Kearney, a person can pull off the interstate and find Elm Creek, Nebraska, just to the north and home of the Blue and Gold Buffalos.
The third round opponent for Hemingford in the 2013 State Football Play-offs have a similar record in the play-off system as that of Hemingford, reaching state a dozen times, and winning six games prior to this season.
Each team of this tough match-up has won twice in the 2013 play-offs, boosting Elm Creek’s record to (9-1), while HHS has a (10-0) won loss record.
The Buffalos have made it to the Quarter-Finals twice before 2013, where just eight teams remain in Class D1, while this will be the first year that Hemingford has played this late into the playoff season.

Elm Creek has also beaten Niobrara/ Verdigre (54-14); and Burwell (59-20) in the first two 2013 State Play-off rounds. Their lone defeat came at the hands of undefeated Overton (13-20) earlier in the season.
The Match Up
This ballgame will feature a more-seasoned Bobcat club after the physical matchup they had with Chambers/Wheeler Central. Hemingford had to work hard in their second playoff game, but has some real confidence as they head into the third round. Wrapping up ball carriers and staying with secondary assignments will be key on defense, and getting into the end-zone for extra points will be critical for a Cat victory.
