NHS Inducts Four New Members
Hughart, Phillips, Benge, and Hansen Selected
The Hemingford Chapter of the National Honor Society inducted four new members in a ceremony held on May fourth at the high school, led by Faculty Sponsor Kate Jungck.
Initiates Annie Hughart, Paige Phillips, Trevor Benge, and Blake Hansen were accorded the spring honors by Chapter officers Katie Heitz, Hans Hansen, Kelsy Wood, and Kaitlyn Jespersen.
Members of the National Honor Society are selected on the basis of the following four national criteria:
Scholarship
Scholarship is a student’s dedication to academic achievement and knowledge acquired through study.
Leadership
Leadership is a student’s ability to act as a role-model and have a positive and constructive influence on his or her community.
Service
Service is a student’s will to enrich the lives of others through dedicating his or her own time to make a difference.
Character
Character is an abstract evaluation of integrity, for it is the sum of one's qualities and actions; Character is not defined by what you did one time, but by what you do all the time and is therefore an essential manifestation of who you are.
Following the ceremony, parents, relatives, other chapter members, and guests were invited to share cookies and punch.
The Hemingford Chapter of NHS annually provides tutoring services to middle school students at HHS, as well as participating in many community service activities.
