Lady Cats Defeat Hay Springs, Finish Second at 2012 PAC Tourney
Missed Free Throws Doom Hemingford in Final
The Hemingford Lady Cats continued to play at a high level, defeating long-time nemesis Hay Springs in the semi-finals of the 2012 PAC Tourney (48-35) , but then fell just a little short against the (7-1) Edgemont Lady Moguls and their outside shooting by four points, (59-63) to finish as tourney runner-up.
Semi-Finals vs. Hay Springs
” We had a nice win against Hay Springs in this one with a number of players contributing to the outcome. Jayleen Forgey and Kelsey Wood led us in scoring with 15 and 14 points respectively. For the most part we played pretty good defense with the exception that we allowed Kelsey Kudrna to get 17.
We will see them again on the 24th in our last home game of the season which will also be Parents Night. “
Edgemont defeated Hemingford 63 – 59 in the Championship game of the PAC Tournament.
“ This was a very fast paced game with a good deal of back and forth. We want to give our team credit as they kept coming back over and over. Kelsey Wood turned in a very determined effort with a career high of 25 points to lead all scorers. The foul line let us down as we had opportunities to win the game from the stripe and we were not able to convert.
Edgemont is a fine team that walked off the floor with a 7-1 record on the season. Our team will get another crack at them in Edgemont on the 28 of January in a game that should be very entertaining. Our Bobcat fans once again helped to bring a great atmosphere to the Sioux County gym and our team and coaches would like to thank them for their great support.”
