Lady Cats Continue to Keep Fans Excited
Close Games with G/R, Hyannis, and Crawford
The Lady Cat High School basketball team has been living life to the fullest during their first three games of the 2011-2012 season, with all three coming down to an exciting finish. Hemingford has won two and lost one in games that came down to the wire each time. The girls have kept fans in the bleachers and have continued to dig down and finish hard!
Gordon / Rushville defeated Hemingford (47 - 36)
“ In our Gordon/Rushville game on Friday the 2nd of December our team just did not get any real momentum in the first quarter. We were down by eight at the end of the quarter, however our second quarter was pretty good and we headed into the locker down just three at 18-21. In the fourth quarter we made a run at them again but just couldn’t put together enough defensive stops to finish the game the way we wanted to. Our team shot three of four from the foul line, but put Gordon/Rushville on the line 26 times which was the difference in the game. We must do a better job of balancing out that part of the game. “
Hemingford defeated Hyannis (47 - 44)
“ On Saturday December 3rd we headed to Hyannis where we were able to get our first win of the season against an athletic group. The Hyannis girls will win a number of games this year based on what we saw during our game. We had eight players get into the scoring column in this one which will help build some confidence that we can get points from different places. Kelsey Wood and Katie Heitz each got into double figures with 12 and 10 respectively. Kelsey and Sammy Huss each had 13 rebounds to lead our team. We found quite a bit to build on in this game. Our team and coaches would like to thank the great fan support on the road. We play at Crawford on the 9th of December in another important contest for our team.”
