HOMECOMING 2011

Busy Week is Underway

HHS 2011 Homecoming week:  September 26-30 

“GET ANIMATED!”

 

Homecoming events are sponsored by the student council.  Officers include: President Katie Heitz, VP Rachel Kaman, Secretary Richard Heule, and treasurer TJ Starman.  There are 5 representatives from each class for a total of 30 additional members.  Sponsor is Kay Horstman. 

 

The theme this year is “Get Animated!”  The float ideas are all from Nickelodeon Cartoon shows:  7th grade Rocket Power, 8th grade Cat Dog, 9th grade Blue’s Clues, 10th grade the Angry Beavers, 11th grade Rugrats, and 12th grade SpongeBob Squarepants.

 

Dress up days are from Sept 26-Sept 30 and are as follows:

Monday—Pajama and/or Crazy Sock Day

Tuesday—Cartoon or SuperHero Day

Wednesday—Salad Dressing or Decade Day

Thursday—Twin and/or Gender Switch Day

Friday—SPIRIT DAY!!

 

Monday, Sept 26th

7:30 PM - Burning of the “H” and the car smashing!  After the home JV football game, come and listen to music and smash a car!!

Location is at the Grandstands at the fairgrounds.

 

Tuesday, Sept 27th

1:30 PM - Coronation in the Hemingford Gymnasium. Everyone is welcome!  After coronation the students will be decorating their lockers according to the homecoming theme.

 

Wednesday, Sept 28th

2:00 PM - Students will be having an Olympic game day. Competitions include kickball, whiffle ball, dodge ball, and tug-o-war!! 

 

Thursday, Sept. 29th

Student council members will be handing out ice cream sundaes the last part of the school day!

 

Friday, Sept. 30th   

Students will be decorating floats for approximately 1 ½ to 2 hours.  Then lots of games and activities outside behind the school.  The Hemingford Staff will be hosting a bar-b-que for the students for their lunch! 

 

1:15 PM – Parade Begins.  Students will leave the parking lot, go south in front of the nursing home, turn east toward Box Butte, then back up to the grandstands 

 

1:40 PM - The public is welcome to see the pep rally and display of the floats at  Fairground grandstands. Students will be dismissed after the pep rally.

 

4:00 PM – Tailgate party hosted by Bank of the West and Mobius.

5:00 PM - Football game versus Sandhills/Thedford will be an early one.

8:30 PM – Homecoming Dance begins in the small gym.

11:30 PM – Dance Ends. 

 

Phew!!  Busy, but extremely fun week planned for the 2011 Homecoming!!!!
