Junior High Lady Cats September VB Results

by Dave Chatelain

Jr. High Volleyball 2011

On September 14 in Hemingford the Jr. High Volleyball Team took on Bridgeport.  In the early game our White Team came up on the short end of the score 11-21, 12-21 and 13-21.  These young ladies are starting to get things figured out and the coaches saw a good deal of improvement.  In the second match the Red team defeated a very solid Bridgeport team 21-17, 22-20, and 5-21.  For the Red Team to get this win was a real strong indicator of what they are capable of.

On September 16 both our Jr. High Volleyball Teams traveled to Alliance for the Alliance Invitational.  This tournament brings together eight teams for a day of strong competition in two different gyms.  Torrington, Gering, Sidney, Alliance Public, Alliance St. Agnes, Gordon/Rushville, Chadron, and Hemingford were the teams in this tournament. Our White Team got their first win of the season as they came out on top of Alliance St. Agnes.  They lost to two other strong teams, however each match saw marked improvement.  The Red Team defeated Alliance Middle School in the first round to move into the championship side of the bracket.  In game two Hemingford fell to a very strong Chadron team.  In the 3rd and 4th place game Hemingford fell just short of the St. Agnes Crusaders.  This gave Hemingford Reds the highest finish they have been able to accomplish for some time.

The next contest for the Hemingford Lady Cats will be Saturday, September 24 when we host the Panhandle Conference tournament.  Our first match is at 9:00 against Hay Springs.
