Art Class Draws Attention
The 2009 school year has been a productive one so far. The art classes started with a few step-by-step drawing lessons, then produced some beautiful dragonflies on scratchart paper. Most students gave the wings particular detail and created some outstanding work. We discussed, in the process, characteristics that make a dragonfly an insect by identifying body parts. A scientific approach is observation, a very important part of art. The students also look at proportions. The wingspan is the size as the full length of the body, but only extends about halfway down vertically. This uses their math skills. If you are in the building, be sure to stop by and look at the artwork
