First Day of School 2009-2010
Focus will be on Increased Academic Progress
Students and faculty grades K-12 showed up with smiles and bookbags on Wednesday, August 19th for the 2009-2010 school year in Hemingford. Pre-schoolers will report for class on Monday, August 24th.
There are many new student faces in our classrooms including our two kindergarten classes. Classes today will dismiss at 1PM, with full days beginning on Thursday.
Thursday will also be the first day for school breakfast, served from 7:45 - 8:15 AM. School lunch began on Wednesday.
Increased contact with secondary faculty will occur this year, with each faculty member in our Junior-Senior High School advising ten students each on curricular plans, academic progress, and other general educational matters. This increased involvement comes on the heels of the HHS after school supervised study program (SST), which places students in classrooms each week, Monday - Thursday for help from all teachers. Sports and activity practice will not begin until after 4PM each of those days.
Increased emphasis on working with students to complete their work, to be on time, and to not miss class is being utilized in an effort to enhance what our school offers to it's students.
Let's have a GREAT year!
