St Agnes wins PHC

The Jr High Volleyball PHC was held Sat. at St Agnes.  The Hemingford Bobcats played the eventual winners in the first match of the tournament.  St. Agnes came out strong against a nervous Bobcat team and won the first game of the match.  The Bobcats pulled themselves together to play an aggressive second game.  Kristina Kramer and JJ Forgey set up the ball for Kelsey Wood and Katie Heitz to get some awesome hits.  Rachel Kaman, Felicia Vela, and Briley Hannaford made some excellent choices at the net to make the game exciting.  Katie Heitz served for the most points with 5 pts.

The second match for Hemingford was against Sioux County.  Hemingford serves were much better in this game.  The Bobcats won 25-21 with Kayleen Boone, Kelsey Wood, and Felicia Vela were the top servers with 5, 5, and 6 pts.  The second game of the match we were a little flat, but we still set the ball up well to get some hits.  Sandra Mendiola and Katie Heitz were the top servers with 4 pts each.  We went into a third game and it came down to which team had the most consistent servers.  Hemingford lost the match 25-21, 15-25, 21-25, but were still winners because they set the ball up.  They were not going to play bump ball to win.  The girls had a lot of movement on the court and have improved tremendously from the first game.
