Wrestlers Sixth at Mitchell Tourney
Bobcats Medal Four, Place Sixth at Mitchell Invite
On Saturday Jan 27th the bobcat wrestling squad left the high school at 5:30 am to travel to Mitchell for the Mitchell Wrestling invite. Thanks to the excellent driving of bus driver Bob we made it to the meet. There were thirteen varsity teams competing at this meet. We competed with six wrestlers and had four make it to the medal rounds. Results are as follows.
130 Matt Faber won his first match by a fall over Nate Pfortmiller of Mitchell, lost his second match by a fall to George Lapesotas of banner County and lost his final match by decision to Jordan Stahla of Kimball.
135 Steven Overshiner (24-9) won his first match by decision over Brodie Macky of Southeast Goshen County, Lost his second match by decision to Travis Kirchner of Ogalalla and lost his final match by a fall to Matt Cearhs of Torrington.
140 Blake Vela (11-5) won his first match by a fall over David Gurney of Torrington, lost his second match by a fall to Craig Montgomery of Southeast Goshen County, won his third match by a fall over Zalten Balazs of Banner County and won his finals match by decision over Ryan Gregory of Kimball to place third.
145 Blake Fastnacht (24-10) won his first match by a fall over Chris Cox of Mitchell, won his second match by decision over Tyson Router of Kimball and lost his finals match by decision to Ryan Olson of Banner County to place second.
189 Kyle Campbell (22-7) won his first match by a fall over Shane McBride of Ogalalla, won his second match by a fall over James Matthes of Sidney and lost his finals match by decision to Steven Easton of Southeast Goshen County to place second.
215 Joe Bob Haas (21-6) Lost his first match by decision to Clayton Kolling of Crawford and won his finals match by a fall over Josh Bauer of Bridgeport to place third.
As a team we placed sixth. I am happy with the way the team is wrestling and look foreword to our next dual at Chadron on Thursday February 1st at6:00 PM and our last tournament before districts this Saturday at 9:30 AM at Southeast Goshen High School in Yoder, Wyoming.
