Friday night found the Hemingford Bobcat football team traveling south to Bayard to take on the 2-2 tigers. It was a night of nasty weather, turnovers, and most importantly, Bobcat defense, as the Cats pitched a shutout, winning 6-0 for their first win of the 2006-07 season.

Coach Mo Hanks commented, " The wind blew hard the first half, it rained hard the second half, and Bayard is much improved from a year ago. In spite of all that, our kids played extremely hard and found a way to win. We had not scored in the first half all year, but the team came out strong and put together a very nice drive to open the game and then played awesome defense the rest of the way to get the “W”. The kids showed a lot of character, overcame a lot of adversity, and I’m very happy for our players to get their first win of the season."

Senior back Kyle Campbell's one yard plunge in the first quarter was the games' only score, though the Cats gave Bayard three chances in the fourth quarter on turnovers. Bayard fell to 2-3 on the seson, while Hemingford stands at 1-3.

This week, the Cats head down the Valley to Morrill. Morrill comes into this game with a 1-4 record. Their win was over Lingle, WY and their losses have been to Mitchell, Southeast (in Yoder, WY), Sutherland, and Garden County. Coach Hanks commented, " They are coming off a very good season in 2005 where they went 8-2 and made it to the second round of the playoffs. They return several players from that team and have a big line with some very athletic skill position players. Once again, we will need to play well in all phases of the game in order to be successful."

Probable Starters at Morrill on September 29th.
