Cats Scratch Tigers 57-53

by Staff on January 15, 2012

Following a loss that netted just 21 points against Gordon-Rushville and 27 turnovers, a change or a challenge was on the menu for the Lady Cats trip south to Bayard for basketball Friday night. The Lady Cat coaching staff challenged the team, and made some line-up changes that "made a huge difference", in the 4 point victory over the Lady Tigers 57-53, according to Head Coach Lannie Shelmadine.

"This was our best overall game of the year". He went on to say, " Every girl contributed on Friday. Ashley Yardley played exceptionally well on both ends of the floor."  The Ladies had three in double figures, including Shelby Campbell with 16, and Ashley Yardley and Mallory Moeller with 12 apiece. Amanda Winten had 6, Briana Paris and Steph Sorenson each had 4, and Tori Towne had 3 in the hard fought victory. The Lady Cats improved to 5-6, and head into the Panhandle Activities Conference Tourney with a head of steam, though Coach Shelmadine cautioned, " we will have to play four quarters of good ball in order to advance in the PAC."
