Chemistry 101 "Getting Stirred Up"

by Brad Olson

August 15, 2005

As we get ready to start a new year here in Hemingford I would like to express how glad that I am to see the amount of students who are interested in taking advanced level sciences.  I would also like to take the time to say that students enrolled in chemistry are in for a fun educational year.  We will start the year with the mathmatics that are essential in learning chemistry.  These include scientific notation, significant figures, and dimentional analysis.  After that we will move toward memorizing the periodic table of the elements.  This will take the better part of the first quarter.  I want to really get into things fast so that we can move into more complex lab activities earlier.

Things that chemistry students should bring to class are a three ring binder, writing utensil, and a scientific calculator.
