Amber, Kaitlyn and Tegan: State prostart qualifiers in the Culinary event

    Five Hemingford Foods II students competed in the 2012 Regional Prostart competition held at Chadron State College on February 29, 2012.  Prostart is a nationwide program started by the National Restaurant Association for high school students that teaches and develops culinary techniques and management skills.  ProStart's industry-driven curriculum provides real-world educational opportunities and builds practical skills and a foundation that will last a lifetime.

    In the competition students were required to plan a menu, cost out ingredients, perform knife skills and complete a three course meal within one hour.  View the pictures to see meals created by the students.  The students who competed in the competition include Casey Stangle, Jameson Forgey, Tegan Yardley, Kaitlyn Bergfield and Amber Adamson.  Three students received 1st place and will advance to state.  These students include Amber Adamson, Kaitlyn Bergfield, and Tegan Yardley.

State Prostart competition will be held in Lincoln on March 24th, 2012
