Hello there!  My name is Joe Collins.  Thank you for visiting my web page.  I am very excited for this school year to begin.  This is my fourth year at good ol' HHS as I will be teaching 7th, 9th, and 10th grade Social Studies and coaching football, boy's basketball, and golf.

Now, a little bit about myself.  I spent my early childhood in Oxford, NE.  The summer after my freshman year at Southern Valley High School, my family moved to Hemingford as my father was going to be the Methodist minister here.  My time in Hemingford was a blessing and I loved nearly every second of it as I finished my high school education.  I was very active as I took part in band, jazz band, choir, swing choir, football, basketball, golf, and National Honors Society.  After graduating from Hemingford in 2003, I left for Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, NE.

At NWU, I majored in History with a 7-12 teaching certificate and a coaching endorsement.  After graduating from NWU, I taught Civics and American Government at Lincoln High School in Lincoln, Nebraska as a long-term substitute.  It was a great experience, one that I will never regret, but I found out that I would rather teach in a smaller school district where I would have the opportunity to build strong relationships with more students and the community.

I enjoy being outdoors in the summer and indoors in the winter.  I enjoy motorcycle rides with my friends, Jeff Hoover and D.J. Sulzbach, when I can and if the weather cooperates.  I love cheering on the Huskers' football and basketball teams and watch them every Saturday in the Fall if possible.

My family (Michael, Dad, Me, Mom, and Sara)

Brittany and I have a white and black cat named Pea and a girl dog named Fred (Winifred).  Brittany and I like to be with her family, play golf, watch movies, cheer on the HUSKERS, and just relax with Pea and Fred at home.

My family is the most important thing in my life.  They are very supportive and would do anything to help me out.  My family now lives in O'Neill, Nebraska where my father is the Pastor at the Methodist church.  My sister, Sara, is in Kentucky attending the University of Kentucky for pharmacy school.  I am very proud of her.  She and her boyfriend of a couple years, Clay Rafferty, were married in Owensboro, Kentucky on August 7th, 2010.  Michael, my brother of 16 years, is a junior at O'Neill High School.  He is out for football, basketball, and golf and is enjoying every minute.  He is quite the kid and I love to spend time with him when I go to visit.  We like to play disc golf, basketball, and throw the pigskin around.  You might be able to catch a glimpse of him around mid-March as he has made the trip to HHS during our Spring Break to hang out with his old friends and his favorite brother...THAT'S ME!!

Period 1: American History
Period 2: Social Studies 7
Period 3: World Geography/History
Period 4: American History
Period 5: World Geography/History
