Wrestlers Place Three at Chadron Invite
On Friday and Saturday January 23, 24 the Hemingford Wrestling Squad competed at the Chadron Wrestling Invite. This two day tournament is noted as being one of the toughest in the panhandle and proved to be so for our squad. With 25 teams from Nebraska, Wyoming, Colorado and South Dakota competing, each weight bracket had at least 16 wrestlers in the competition and many had over 20.
Hemingford took eight wrestlers in seven weight brackets. We had three wrestlers receive medals at this huge tournament. This is a great accomplishment for these individuals. Aaron Jesperson, Michael Bergfield and Joe Bob Haas stood with the placers at the end of the tournament.
Results are as follows.
At 119 Aaron Jesperson went 3-3 over the two days and placed sixth.
At 125 Jose Campos went 2-2 and didn’t place.
At 130 Adam Jensen went 0-2 and didn’t place
At 140 Zane Jaramillo went 1-2 and didn’t place.
At 152 Brandon Roland went 0-2 and didn’t place.
At 189 Michael Bergfield went 4-2 and placed fifth.
At 189JV Tanner Lembke went 0-2 and was taken out of the competition due to an injury which occurred during his second match.
At 215 Joe Bob Haas went 3-1 and placed second.
The next competition for the squad will be at the Mitchell invite which will take place Saturday January, 31 at the Mitchell high school. First round competition is scheduled to start at 8:30 AM.
