Welcome to the 2009 - 2010 School Year
by Kelly Thompson
August 09, 2009

Each year we're asked to provide an
update to our staff information and each year it takes me a while
to think about what has changed or is new from the previous year.
Well, 2009-2010 is no exception. My school day is comprised of
working as the 7-12 Resource Teacher and monitoring students who
are involved in the Nova NET computerized program. There has been
an increase in the number of students that receive services this
year, which keeps me involved in developing programs that best meet
each student’s needs. I will continue to act as the assistant
director for One-Act Drama in the fall, but not the spring play due
to the increase in the number of students with whom I work.
Finally, I am one of the senior class sponsors. This class has been
faced with many challenges throughout their school career; it is an
honor to be a sponsor for them. It truly is a blessing to be
involved in so many areas and to work with a great student
body.
My focus for Practical Skills this year will be working towards
meeting individual goals and objectives and providing new ways of
understanding and applying concepts that are difficult for
students. The grading system continues to be based on four major
areas: attendance/punctuality, preparedness, time management and
attention in class. Additionally, I am hoping to involve my
students in a variety of field trips designed to improve the skills
necessary for success in high school and in post-secondary
situations.
If you have any questions, or ever need to discuss an issue, you
can contact me before and after school. In addition, my planning
period is first hour, 8:23 - 9:17.
Again, I am looking forward to an awesome year with a possibility
for great things to happen. Welcome back!
