Biking, Hiking, and Grandchildren!

By Christy Ningen

August 29, 2009

My name is Christine Ningen. I currently serve the Hemingford School District as a Special Education Para-Professional. This is my sixth year of being part of our great school system. I work with a variety of our school children in many different elementary grades along with other paras. I also get to help supervise on the playground. I enjoy working with the teachers and students at Hemingford Elementary school.

I grew up in Rushville, where I was one of ten children (eight girls and two boys). I graduated from Rushville High, and then from Chadron State with an Associate of Arts Degree in Business. Living and working in Hemingford allows me to be near many of my sisters and one brother, so I am very thankful.

Grandson Justin after archery at Chadron State Park! (I like camping too!)

Previously I have worked with special students as a para for the Wheeler Central Schools, the Grant Public Schools, and the Ogallala Public Schools.

My husband Casper and I are blessed with four children (all college graduates! and three beautiful grandchildren, Justin,  Ella, and Chloa, all of Chappell, Nebraska, where our son Patrick and his wife Laurie live. He is a first year principal of grades K-4 and 9-12, after teaching math for many years.

Hobbies and interests I enjoy include reading, church activities at St. Bridget’s here in Hemingford, and walking with Mrs. Lanik, and Mrs. Thompson each morning bright and early! I also get to walk Duke, our black lab! This fall we are again planning on joining 500 other bicyclists in the Black Hills for a three day, 120 mile “Michelson Trail Trek”. It will be GREAT!This will the fourth year that we have ridden in this spectacle!

The opportunities to learn for our students as well as our staff are many here at Hemingford. I feel blessed to be a part of the school here!
