My educational journey started for me at the age of 5 in first grade. (My parents hated to send me to kindergarten when I was 4 so they held me out until the next year and started me in first. We lived at Woodrow, Colorado and I attended Woodlin Public Schools. After my seventh grade year we move to Brule, NE where I received my high school degree. (Brule consolidated with Big Springs and is now known as South Platte.)
I chose to go to Kearney State College (University of Nebraska-Kearney) and got a degree in Elementary Education. I got my first job at Clarkson Public Schools where I taught a first and second grade combination class for two years.
My husband decided that if he was going to ever get into farming with his dad that he had better do it. So in 1975 we moved to Hemingford to go into farming. I could have gotten a job at Hemingford Public Schools but I decided that I wanted to stay home with my family.
I did not get into teaching until 1986. I joined the Hemingford staff at that time and was the Kindergarten teacher for 7 years. From Kindergarten I moved to the Title 1 position. I was there for two years and then I was transferred to second grade. After five years in second grade they transferred me to my present position teaching Computer Applications and Keyboarding. I have moved around a lot in this system and I have loved every position. Working with the students at Hemingford has been one of the greatest blessings I have ever experienced.
My hobbies include spending as much time as I can with my four children, gardening, helping out on the farm and of course spending hours playing on a computer.
