Hello, my name is Cathy Herstead. I am the 7th, 8th and 9th grade English teacher at Hemingford High School. I am also the assistant speech coach here at Hemingford. I have been a NSAA speech judge for the past two years. I graduated from Gering High School and have attended WNCC, UNL, CSC and UNK. I have a BA in history and a BS in secondary education with endorsements in history and English. Currently, I am working towards a masters in education with an emphasis in English from UNK. I have substitute taught for 13 years and worked for four years tutoring grammar and composition at a junior college.
Outside of school, I delight in my daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter, Shelly, Preston and Madison. I grew up in western Nebraska, living in the country and spent many years participating in rodeo. Currently, my main interests and hobbies range from playing golf and volleyball to writing short stories.
