Mrs. Heusman's Bio

Hello, my name is Kerri Heusman and I am one of two kindergarten teachers here. This will be my fourth year working in the Hemingford Public Schools. I am very excited to be working with the little ones again. It is exciting to watch the students become more independent throughout the year. By the end of Kindergarten students will be reading 3-4 letter words,memorizing many sight words, adding, subtracting, and along with many more concepts.
A Little Bit About Me...
I am a former HHS alumni student. I have always been very active in sports. A full ride volleyball scholarship to MPCC in North Platte, Nebraska is what lead me down the road to furthering my education. I graduated there with an Associate of Arts degree in 1998 and transferred to CSC in Chadron, Nebraska. In 2001, I then graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and an Early Childhood Endorsement. I taught in the Alliance rural school district K-2 and 6th-8th. I also had an opportunity to work overseas in Naples, Italy for 3 years teaching 3rd grade at a Military School.
I am taking on a new task as the Head Volleyball Coach. It is something I have always wanted to do and am looking forward to it.
In my spare time I like to spend time with my husband and step son. You can usually find us hunting, at the baseball field, or in the country helping family on one of the ranches. I try to stay active also. I enjoy playing golf, volleyball, bowling, and softball.

I encourage parents to look at the papers that come home and discuss with your child what they learned. Take a few minutes and have them read some words they recognize on their papers.
