7th, 8th, Alg I, GM I, and GM II

SCHEDULE FOR MRS. AHRENS

1st Period General Math I & II

We incorporate the two classes together with the GM II students extending the lesson more than the GM I students.The General Math classes are basically a Pre- Algebra curriculum. Scientific Calculators are recommended for class.

2nd Period Math 7

Math 7 has 5 units. Unit 1 is Algebra and Functions, Unit 2 Number Sense: Fractions, Unit 3 Algebra and Number Sense: Proportions and Percents, Unit 4 Statistics, Data Analysis, and Probability, Unit 5 Geometry and Measurement. All the units are then broken down into chapters. There are about 12 chapters. We incorporate writing, scientific method, and story problems in almost every lesson.

3rd Period Alg I

Alg I There are 4 units which include: Unit 1 Foundations for Functions, Unit 2 Linear Functions, Unit 3 Polynomials and Nonlinear Functions. Graphing is done throughout the year. I have graphing calculators that the students may borrow in class, but it would be advantageous to have their own scientific calculators. There are about 12 chapters. We incorporate writing, scientific method, and story problems in almost every lesson.

4th Period Math 8

There are 5 basic units that we cover. Unit 1 is Number and Operations: Rational and Real Numbers. Unit 2 Patterns, Relationships, and Algebraic Thinking. Unit 3 Geometry and Measurement. Unit 4 Algebraic Thinking: Linear and Nonlinear Functions. Unit 5 Statistics, Data Analysis, and Probability. There are about 12 chapters. We incorporate writing, scientific method, and story problems in almost every lesson.
