Brad Olson
After finishing high school in Alliance in 1994 Brad attended college at Northeastern Junior College in Sterling Colorado, earning his Associates of Science degree in the spring of 1996. He then attended Chadron State College from 1996 to 2000. In the spring of 2000 he received his bachelors degree in Biology and Chemistry education. He is currently working on continuing education hours toward a natural science endorsement. After graduation he spent two years working full time on the ranch and substitute teaching in Hemingford, Alliance, and at District 131 north of Ellsworth. After having fun and travelling for those years he took his first full time teaching position in Hyannis. While at Hyannis he taught 8th grade Earth science, 9th grade physical science, chemistry, physics, life skills, geography, and was the junior high P.E. coach. Along with all of those classes he was an assistant high school volleyball, hs girls basketball, head jr. high volleyball and track coach. After a year of “chasing” his tail, Mr. Olson decided it was time for a change. “When the opening came up in Hemingford I just had to apply so that I could slow down a bit.” He has been in Hemingford since 2003 teaching advanced sciences. He was an assistant volleyball coach one year with Mrs. Hucke and is now is the head coach.
In his spare time Mr. Olson likes to work on the ranch, go mountain biking, geocaching, hunting, fishing, golfing, and traveling. Some of his favorite childhood memories are going trout fishing with his dad in the hills, spending time at the cabin south of Chadron State Park, and helping restore antique tractors. His favorite foods are rib-eye steaks and potatoes. While relaxing he enjoys listening to bands like "Reel Big Fish" or "The Refreshments."
At school when Mr. Olson is not busy preparing for his physics and chemistry classes. He is usually busy working on Volleyball activities or curriculum mapping.
