Family Reunion 2006

The Happenin' Horstmans

by Kay Horstman

August 13, 2006

Welcome to my web page!  You must have come here to learn a little about me, my schedule and other information.  Feel free to drop me an email with any questions or comments you may have and I will try to help in any way that I can.

My email is kayh@panesu.org

I am a South Dakotan from the heart of the Black Hills, Rapid City.  As the youngest of 5 siblings, I was a tag along and pretty persistent and fearless.  Our family moved to Hot Springs when I was five years old, so that is where I went to school all 13 years.  My high school friends are still some of my closest and I really enjoyed my time as a Hot Springs Bison.

Chadron State College offered me a scholarship and was an affordable place for me to attend.  I started out with a dream of becoming a CPA and quickly changed to education after coaching basketball in Rushville with my older sister.  Before graduation I went to a job fair in Greeley, CO and landed a job in Haxtun, CO as a computer instructor.  It was an awesome experience.  The school was brand new and I got to choose all the computer equipment, furniture, accessories and the works!  There I coached junior high volleyball, basketball, and track.  I also assisted with high school volleyball and basketball.

Bonfires under the stars are one of our favorite things

After two years in the Haxtun district, I moved to Hemingford to be with the love of my life!  Rex is a wheat, bean, corn, and beet farmer.  It was meant to be as a job opened up in business and computers and coaching!  We eventually started our family and we are blessed with three terrific kids.

I have been teaching in Hemingford since 1991 and have enjoyed every minute. The students in Hemingford are the cream of the crop.  They make my day unique and they are the reason I love my job.  Please look at my schedule below to see which classes I teach and feel free to contact me during my planning period or by email:
