2017 ECLIPSE OBSERVANCE PLANS
==============================
District 10 is planning to allow all students to take part in observing the upcoming solar eclipse on Monday, August 21st. Scientists predict a partial eclipse will begin at 10:26 AM that morning, in our Hemingford area, with totality occuring at 11:48 AM, ending two minutes and 17 seconds later. A residual partial eclipse will continue for a short time afterward.
Special glasses for viewing this event have been purchased from ESU 13 and will be given to each student and staff member to use and keep as a memento of the special event. Though the event will be on the first full day of classes, teachers will take some time on Thursday and Friday, August 17th and 18th, during our two partial beginning days to have discussion and share information about the event.
A parent permission slip will be included in our school newsletter sent out in August, as well as in our elementary and high school offices for parents to give their permission for this special program. Students that do not have a signed slip will remain in class with a teacher.
Parents and students are invited to do some advance studies of the plethora of information on the web and in our local libraries that detail the event.
