Great ACT Scores for HHS Again
Extra Test Preparation Paying Off
2015 Hemingford ACT Test Scores Very Strong
======================================
ACT scores are being released nationally today, and Hemingford has once again done a great job with the test that shows the level of college readiness for students. The test is administered in every state, and in every school district in the nation.
Students are tested in English, Mathematics, Reading, and Science. A score in each of those areas is listed below, along with a combined (or composite score) These scores are then contrasted against state scores.Though the ACT test is normally a measurement made when students are in high school, teachers from our grade school, our middle school, and from our high school all share in these success stories.
Special thanks to Mrs. Peggy Foster, High School Principal, who works with students leading up to the tests. Our local formula for success includes bright students, committed teachers, supportive parents, and that extra focus from our principal!
In English, Hemingford students scored a 22.6 compared with a Nebraska score of 21.1; Hemingford earned a 22.1 score in mathematics, compared with a state score of 21.0; In reading Hemingford students scored 23.1 compared to the state average of 21.9; In science our students scored above the state average 23.1 to 21.6.
Overall, District 10 students scored a 23.0 Composite score, compared with a state average Composite score of 21.5. The differences in most of these comparisons are significant.
The ACT results also list how ready our students are for college and university coursework. Once again our students fared very well with their efforts and preparation, with 79% of our students ready for College English Composition compared with 69% of Nebraska Students; In College Algebra preparedness, 64% of District 10 students met that mark, compared to just 44% of Nebraska students; 64% of our students at HHS are ready for College Social Sciences, while in Nebraska only 49% of students have reached that point; In College Biology, HHS had 57% of students meeting that level, while in the state, just 42% of students did;
In the overall comparison, 50% of our students met or exceeded meeting all four areas of preparedness, while just 29% of the State’s students did likewise.
Congratulations to our students, parents, teachers, and Mrs. Foster for the concentrated efforts needed to do well on this exam each year.
