Egg Embryology Project
April 20th the Egg Emryology project started for this years third grade class. Deb Kraenow from the University of Nebraska Extension office came to Hemingford and talked about eggs. The students were able to dissect an egg and identify the parts learned. The following week Mrs. Kraenow came back, candled eggs with the students, and they set the eggs in the incubators. The students candled eggs once more before our hatch day on May 11th.
Through the candling the students were able to identify quitters, yokers, and winners. The chicks hatched right on time. Currently the students have been keeping a close eye on the chicks while they are in the brooder box just outside their rooms. The embryology project is one of the students favorite projects. Thanks to Mrs. Kraenow for bringing this wonderful project to our classroom.
