FFA Members Attend 2014 State Convention
On Wednesday April, 9th fourteen Hemingford FFA members hopped on the bus and went to Lincoln to attend the Nebraska state FFA Convention. While there the members participated in leadership workshops, attended general sessions (where they heard keynote speakers from Nebraska), acted as the chapters delegates at business sessions and competed in career development events.
Results from State Career Development Events Competition: The agronomy team received a blue ribbon, individually Wyatt Stricker and Johnny Manning came home with blue ribbons. Cole Walters and Danny Manning earned red ribbons. In the welding competition the team received a red ribbon, Colt Foster earned a white ribbon in OA welding and Ethan Skinner earned a blue ribbon in Arc welding. The Farm Management team consisting of Matthew wood, Lee Jespersen and Jameson Wood did not earn a ribbon. The Junior Livestock Evaluation team included of Matt Davis, Denton Payne, Josh Milne, and Toby Phillips. Matthew Davis earned a blue ribbon and the team didn’t ribbon. The chapter did pretty good considering this is the first time many of them have competed in these competitions at the state level. All but two of these contestants will be able to come back and compete again next year and having an idea of what to study for at the state level will be a great help
