Second Round State Play-offs
The Visitors
Calling themselves the Renegades, the towns of Bartlett, Ericson, and Chambers have combined forces in sports and activities to form CWC, or Chambers/Wheeler Central. The towns are situated between O’Neill and Grand Island. Wearing orange and black, the Renegades have earned a record of (6-3) in Football in 2013. CWC won their first round play-off game against South Loup 26-23.
Their losses are to Burwell, Stuart, and Twin Loup, all who remain alive in the State Football Play-offs. CWC has beaten last year’s State Champion Elgin/Elgin Pope John, North Central, also still alive in the play-offs, and Clearwater/Orchard, a 2013 play-off team, as well as a first round foe of HHS back in 2012.

The Match Up
Hemingford comes into the second round with lots of offensive firepower, with QB Matt Wood, RBs Ethan Skinner and Brady Turek, and receiver Colt Foster. Defensively Kyle Kaman and Blake Hansen anchor the Cats. HHS is (9-0) on the season, tying their school record set last year for most wins in a season. The Cats are also Two-Time District Champions, winning crowns in 2012 and 2013.
CWC counters with QB Brenden Pelster, a 170 Lb. Sophomore and FB Greg Olson, a 210 Lb. Senior who have each rushed for over 1,000 yards this season, and a little more size than Hemingford has seen for most of the season.
