Third Graders Learn Seatbelt Safety
On May 7th, 2013 the Hemingford third grade traveled to Scottsbluff to the Nebraska State Patrol Offices of Troop E. The troopers gave the students a tour of the facilities and brief descriptions of their jobs. The students also learned about the polygraph machine and how it works.
The students were later taken outside and Trooper Chuck Elley demonstrated the importance of seatbelt safety with the roll over vehicle. A SWAT team member showed the students some of the equipment that is used and explained why they used certain items. He also demonstrated some of the things they use in their line of work.
The students were able to see the inside of a patrol car and learn about the equipment kept there. The students learned about the radios, sirens and lights. The students thoroughly enjoyed their tour of the state patrol facilities.
Afterwards the students had a picnic lunch at the park before heading back to Hemingford.
