Cat's Cinderella Season Ends (55-20)
Loup City Moves on in the State Play-offs
In a case of helping out the other team too much with turnovers and defensive lapses, Hemingford allowed second round opponent Loup City to gain a big first quarter lead, and move forward in the 2012 Nebraska State Football Play-offs by a (55-20) victory.
The Red Raiders brought along almost the whole town on a beautiful Fall day, and were not disappointed. Hemingford also had many loyal fans, even though it was Fall Break, but surrendered more points in just the first quarter than they had in any entire single game all year. The 26 point cushion after one period grew to a 28-0 deficit at half. The Cats scored three times in the second half, but allowed Loup County to keep scoring too.
The Red Raiders are a large, physical, senior-laden team, that played a much more challenging regular schedule than Hemingford, Because of this year's hard work, the relative youth of the team, and the ten games of experience, including two in the State Play-offs, the next several years may see the Cats attain even greater heights.
The Cats were the first 9 - win team in school history, were District 10 Champions, and had a terrific season. Thanks to everyone that helped in any way with this year's season.
Bobcat Nation will be back next year, bigger and better.
