The Nebraska School Activities Association has released football schedules for Nebraska schools for 2012 and 2013. Hemingford will see three opponents that they played during the past two years, including Crawford, Banner County, and Maxwell, but five “new” foes will be added to the schedule, including Hay Springs, Sutherland, SMC (Stapleton – McPherson County), Paxton, and Morrill.
Longtime football fans will remember of course that Hay Springs and Morrill, schools that are in area conferences that the Bobcats are members of were on the local schedule in years past. SMC, which is a cooperative arrangement between Stapleton and McPherson County (Tryon), along with Sutherland and Paxton, will keep the Cats traveling East.
The new schedules are for the next two year period, with games usually at home one year and away the next, though the Cats will be headed back to Harrisburg for the second year in a row to balance out the NSAA overall schedule.
Ironically, none of the three teams Hemingford lost to in 2011, Mullen, South Loup, or Garden County will be on the schedule the next two years, unless the Cats meet them in the 2012 State Play-offs, something that will keep the Red and White busy a little longer in 2012, we hope!
