Boys are Champions at Bridgeport, Girls tourney Runner-Up
Cats are Currently 4th in Class C-2 Standings
Basketball is back after a Christmas break that allowed some injuries to heal, and some re-kindling of purpose for Hemingford's teams.
Dave Chatelain's Lady Cats ran off wins at Banner County and against Garden County before dropping a close one in the finals of the Bridgeport tourney (40-47). Katie Heitz and Kelsy Wood have provided the offensive punch for the Ladies.
The Bobcats boys, coached by Randy Hiemstra have been playing well after the break too, dropping Banner County and Bridgeport to sport a (6-1) record.
Freshman Matthew Wood has really found the range from outside the arc, leading the Cats in the past two games with four three-pointers at Banner County and six more against a tough Bridgeport club. Fellow freshman Colt Foster has also provided good scoring, and Super Soph Blake Hansen has made the paint his personal space, leading the Cats with rebound after rebound. Freshman Brady Turek is nearly back to full speed on both wheels, as his quickness will be a necessary ingredient down the stretch for Hemingford.
The attachment at the link below will list the current State Class C-2 NSAA point standings, where Hemingford sits in fourth place! Though there are plenty of games left, the early success for the young Bobcats have put them in a solid position to have a great season. Danger lurks in the regular season, the PAC and WTC tourneys, and in a good sub-district and tough District.
