2011-12 Wrestling Results
Junior and Senior High Outcomes
The Cat Grapplers have started the 2011-12 Season with five competitors and look to see some success with several weight-classes.
Crawford Invite - Cash Weber (2-1) and Tanner Lemke (1-1) each placed highly, with Weber defaulting from an injury and taking 3rd, while Lembke took 2nd. Freshman Asa Carlson also took third , with a (2-2) record. Though Brad Benzel and Wyatt Stricker finished the meet with no wins, they both showed a greater mat presence than in 2010, and were both close to victories in their matches. The team finished with a (5-10) match won-loss record.
Hay Springs Dual - The first of two duals with the Hawks, this one went the Cat's way, as they finished with four wins in seven matches. The second match-up will come on January 12th in Hemingford.Asa Carlson and Cash Weber each won by Fall. The team finished with a (4-3) match won-loss record.
Banner County Invite - The Cats traveled to Harrisburg and came home with their first Champion of the 2011-12 season, when 220 Lb. Senior Tanner Lembke won four matches, all by Fall. Freshman Asa Carlson did not place, but won two matches. The team finished with a (8-9) won-loss record.
Bridgeport Invite - The Cats placed in two weight divisions, with Tanner Lembke and Asa Carlson each placing third. the team finished with a (1-8) won-loss record
WTC Tourney at Bayard - Back from break, the Cats competed well, with Wyatt Stricker wrestling tough in his two matches, Cash Weber (3-2) and Asa Carlson (3-2) each winning three, and Senior Tanner Lembke making all-conference with his three pins and a runner-up finish at 195 pounds. (4-1)The team finished with an (10-9) won-loss record, their best outing of the season!
Garden County Invite - Two Cats placed third, with Cash Weber (3-1) medaling at 132, and Tanner Lembke (4-1) medaling at 195. Asa Carlson went (1-2). The team finished with an (8-6) won-loss record.
Hay Springs Dual - Part Deau This home match will also be parent's night for the Cats. The Cats wrestled a combination of exhibition and regular matches in the dual with Hay Springs. Asa Carlson won a match by forfeit as well as an exhibition match. Cash Weber also won two matches, one by forfeit and one in exhibition by fall. Tanner Lembke won a match via forfeit, and lost an exhibition match by fall. Wyatt Stricker lost his only match, but has really improved. The Cats went (3-1) in matches that counted for the night
Sandhills Invite - Three placers out of four wrestlers made the long trip worthwhile for Hemingford. Senior Tanner Lembke raised his record to (16-7) with a Championship at 195, while Cash Weber went (1-1) and finished third at 132. Weber is (12-7) on the season. Freshman Asa Carlson went (1-2) to finish in 5th at 182. He is (11-10) on the season. Wyatt Stricker wrestled hard and finished (0-2) Stricker is (2-19) but has really worked hard in practice. The Cats went (4-3) in the tourney, their fourth winning percentage in total matches in a row.
Chadron Invite (at CSC)- Great competition in Chadron from four surrounding states. No Bobcats were in the winner's circle, with losses to some top wrestlers from Colorado, South Dakota, Wyoming, and Nebraska, but hopefully the Cats will get back on track this week at Mitchell. Asa Carlson (0-2) lost to the fourth and fifth place wrestlers, Cash Weber (0-2) lost to the third place finisher, Tanner Lembke (1-0) was injured as he lost to the fourth place wrestler, and Wyatt Stricker (0-2) lost to the tourney runner-up from Gillette, a two-time defending State Champion in Wyoming. The Cats went (0-7) in the tourney and look to the next two meets to get ready for Districts.
Mitchell Invite - (January 28th, 2012) Tanner Lembke won three matches and placed 4th at Mitchell. (3-2); Cash Weber went (1-2); Asa Carlson went (0-2); and Wyatt Stricker also went (0-2). The Cats head to Yoder, Wyoming next for the Southeast Duals, and should get plenty of mat time in preparation for Districts!
Yoder Invite - (February 4th, 2012) The Cats had their best success of the season, with Wyatt Stricker going (0-2); Asa Carlson going (3-1); Cash Weber going (3-1), and Tanner Lembke going (4-0) and winning at 195! The Cats went (10-4) in the tourney.
Districts at Sutherland - (February 10-11th, 2012) A decent tourney, but the Cats missed some chances to advance to State. Wyatt Stricker went (0-2); Asa Carlson went (0-2); Cash Weber looked good, but lived dangerously in his two losses, and went (1-2) to complete his Junior Year one win short of State. Senior Tanner Lembke went (2-1) and finished as District Runner-Up at 195 pounds. He qualifies for State!
State in Omaha - (February 16-18th, 2012) Tanner Lembke, 195 Pounder for HHS, went to Omaha and won two matches, each by fall to finish the season in fine fashion. Though he dropped two other matches to state placers, Tanner had a very good state tourney, and a great Senior season. Thanks to the parents, wrestlers and coaches for a good season. Hopefullt 2012-13 will find the team with better numbers and even greater success!
All Conference Honors - In the Western Trails Conference in 2012, Tanner Lembke at 195 won First Team All Conference Honors, while Cash Weber at 132 and Asa Carlson at 182 won Honorable mention All Conference Honors for the Hemingford Bobcats!
