2011 Season Bobcat Football Stats
Cats finish (5-3)
The 2011 Bobcat Football Team, co-coached by Jordan Haas and Randy Hiemstra, and assisted by Joe Collins worked hard this fall, winning five games, beating Crawford, Maxwell, Thedford-Sandhills, Banner County, and Leyton. The Cats dropped games against Mullen in a 30-32 heartbreaker, as well as games to Garden County and South Loup.
Maxwell, Thedford-Sandhills, Mullen, Garden County, and South Loup all qualified for the 2011 Nebraska State Football Play-offs, and the Cats had a high enough point average to qualify, (as they did for the past three years as well), but enrollment for Hemingford was always just one or two students too high for eight-man play-off eligibility. (83 total students in grades 9-11)
In 2012, the Cats will have the required enrollment numbers to be play-off eligible, but must continue to play well in order for that to happen.
Senior players Casey Stangle, Morgan Sutphen, and Tanner Lemke finished with season records over the past four years of (7-1), (5-3), (5-3), and (5-3), for a combined record of (22-12), one of the best four-year runs in Hemingford history!
The future looks bright even though the Cats will miss those three seniors. The Hemingford Schools and Hemingford Community have provided some solid opportunities for younger players to learn football basics, and the experience and knowledge gained from participation from third grade through junior high is sure to pay-off.
Thanks to all of the Junior League coaches, the chain gang, our announcers and score-keepers, our administrative supervisors, our after-game picker-uppers, the Booster Club for post-game meals, Aaron Wade and Lyle Fodnes for their great photos and stories in the Ledger, the Hemingford American Legion for our color guard, and the Hemingford Area Fire Department and EMT's for always being there for the players!!
