Senior Patrick Jespersen qualified in the 100 meters, his specialty event, finishing second. He also high jumped for the first time in his life, finishing second and qualifying for the state meet. Coach Tim Lanik said that, " We thought that Patrick would place in the high jump because he is such a good athlete. It was very exciting to see how well he jumped." Onlooker Steve Morava commented that, " on his first jump, he jumped so high, you could have driven a truck between him and the crossbar, he went over six feet easy."

Sophomore Shelby Campbell, slowed by injury this season, ran a gutty 100 intermediate hurdles final, winning a District Championship, also qualifying for next weeks fireworks at Omaha Burke. She has qualified for two years in the event for Coach Cindy Ahrens. Campbell also placed 4th in the 300 lows.
