Jespersen and Campbell bound for Omaha

Hemingford sophomore Shelby Campbell is shown winning the district championship in the 100 Intermediate Hurdles at Bayard Thursday. She qualified in the event for the second straight year.The Hemingford Bobcats and Lady Bobcats participated in a warm sunny Class C District Track and Field Championship in Bayard on Thursday, qualifying two athletes for next week's State Championships in Omaha.

Senior Patrick Jesperson, shown running his leg of the 4 x 400 relay at districts, also finished as district runner-up in the High Jump and the 100 meters, qualifying for the state meet in both events.Sophomore Shelby Campbell, slowed by injury this season, ran a gutty 100 intermediate hurdles final, winning a District Championship, also qualifying for next weeks fireworks at Omaha Burke. She has qualified for two years in the event for Coach Cindy Ahrens. Campbell also placed 4th in the 300 lows.

Hemingford Sophomore Ashley Yardley went over 30 feet in the triple jump at the district meet, placing 6thThe boys team placed 6th in the nine team field, which Perkins County won, while the girls finished tied for last with Garden County. The Perkins County girls were district champions as well.
