Jennifer's Bio

I am a Chadron State College graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Education and a minor in early childhood. I went to the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and completed a certification in assessment. This last May I finished my master's program in the area of curriculum and instruction with an emphasis in elementary reading. This will be my eleventh year in Hemingford, hard to believe how fast they have gone by. As the first grade teacher I am responsible for teaching the students in all academic areas in the classroom. This includes: reading, phonics, writing, math, science and social studies.
My goal for the first grade students is to have them become independent learners in the classroom. I would like to see them sit down pick up a pencil and write with out any assistance. I want them to develop a love for reading and see the importance it has in their life now and when they are older. To treat each other with the respect that they all deserve.
I am very excited about this school year, and the adventures we will have. I have been blessed with two children of my own who seem to be growing up way to fast. Along with my teaching roles here in Hemingford I also coach the 7th grade volleyball team as well as co-chair our school improvement process. I know that this will be a fantastic school year. Please feel free to contact me here at the school through a phone call (487-3330) or via e-mail, jgasseling@panesu.org. and as always you are always welcome in the classroom at any time.
