Wrestlers Compete at Western Trails Conference and Garden County Invite
On Thursday January 8th the Hemingford Wrestling Team attended the Western trails Conference Dual tournament. The squad was plagued with bad luck from the start. We drove down with 8 wrestlers and by the time we wrestled our last two duals we could only field 5.

At 119 pounds Aaron Jespersen was home with the flu. At 140 Zane Jaramillo was out at weigh in due to a possible skin problem that later turned out to be a scar. This left seven wrestlers available. By the end of our third dual we had lost Tanner Lembke and Jake Zier to injury.
We wrestled the last two duals with five wrestlers and placed seventh in the conference.
At 112 pounds Jake Zier went 1-2 for the day.

At 125 Jose Campos went 4-1 for the day.
At 130 Adam Jensen went 3-2 for the day; all of Adams losses were at 135 pounds where we wrestled him up one weight in order to get him matches.
At 152 Brandon Roland went 2-3 for the day.

At 189 Michael Bergfield went 4-1 for the day.
At 215 Joe Bob Haas was back in action after being out the first month of the season due to illness, He went 4-1 for the day.
At heavyweight Tanner Lembke wrestled up a couple of weight classes to help the team out and went 2-1 for the day.

As a team our win loss record for this tournament was 21-11.
On Saturday January 10 the team traveled to Oshkosh to compete in the Garden County Tournament. As a team we placed 4th with a team win loss record of 13-6. We had six wrestlers competing, five of them placed, three were champions, one placed second and one placed fourth. Individual results are as follows.
At 119 Aaron Jesperson was 2-2 for the day and placed fourth.
At 125 Jose Campos was 3-0 for the day and placed first.

At 130 Adam Jensen was 2-1 for the day and placed second.

At 140 Zane Jaramillo was 1-3 for the day and didn’t place.
At 189 Michael Bergfield was 2-0 for the day and placed first.

At 215 Joe Bob Haas was 3-0 for the day to place first.

Another high point of the day was Joe Bob achieved his 100th career win during the semi-finals and won the tournament with his 101st career win. 100 career wins is a milestone that few high school wrestlers achieve and we are very proud of Joe Bob for this accomplishment.
The next competition for the wrestlers will be this Thursday January 15th at 6:00 PM when the Hemingford Bobcats dual the Bayard Tigers at home.
