The Winning Team
PHC CHAMPS!IMAGE3> We played the second game of the tournament against a very good Crawford team. The girls pressed the Rams and went up 10-0 in the first 2 minutes. We kept the pressure on the whole game and it really threw them off balance. The girls did an excellent job of controlling the ball and rebounding. Quarters went 20-8,6-4, 14-10, 19-11. For a final of 59-33. Scores were Kelsy Wood 15, Jayleen Forgey 4, Briley Hannaford 25, Sammy Huss 11, Kristina Kramer 4 In the 4th game of the tournament we were paired up with Hay Springs. Everyone got in this game and all the girls did great job defensively. They rebounded kept the Hawks score low. Quarters were 14-6, 19-5, 12-6, 0-4 final 45-21. Points Kaitlyn Jespersen 6, Kelsy Wood 6, JJ Forgey 8, Briley Hannaford 10, Sammy Huss 3, Kaitlyn Bergfield 8, PK Campbell 2, Caralina Carlson 2. The Championship game was a nail biter against Alliance St. Agnes. The first quarter we were tied 10-10. JJ hit a 3 pointer toward the end of the quarter to tie it up. Second quarter, we were ahead by 4 and then let them have an easy fast break bucket, so we ended the half ahead by 2. Third quarter was tight back and forth and then JJ hit another 3. We ended the 3rd quarter only ahead by 2. Fourth quarter we are ahead by 4 points. We decided to keep the ball out and use the clock up. The Crusaders stole a pass and attempted to make a shot but they missed and we got the rebound. We kept the ball outside again and then tried passing inside to our posts. They stole the pass but lost the ball out of bounds. So now all we had to do was make a pass in court and hold on to the ball until time ran out. We played man-to-man defense the first half and the girls did an excellent job but they were getting tired after playing 2 ½ games. IMAGE2> (Related HELP Center Links: Flexible So we tried a 2-3 zone defense and shut down any inside shots. We were very proud of how the girls played and conducted themselves all year long. The girls had a winning season, they only lost one game by 3 points to Bridgeport. The girls won by passing, rebounding, fighting for loose balls, looking for the open girl, and always by playing as a team. Great year for a Great Team! Quarters went 10-10, 7-5, 9-9, 5-3 final 31-27. Scorers Kelsy Wood 6, JJ Forgey 10, Sammy Huss 6. Kristina Kramer 9.
