2008-09 Classes are in Session!!
Welcome Back, Students and Staff!

Classes began on Thursday, August 14th in Hemingford for grades K-12. Pre-school classes will join the older classes on Monday, August 18th.

Several new students will be part of our school system this year in addition to a few new staff members.

Parents accompanied many students attending for the first time. The weather cooperated, with just a mist in the air. Lower temperatures are forecast for the next few days, though all buildings in District 10 have air-conditioning.

Elementary students gathered in the elementary gym for a chance to hear goals for the year from Mr. Ron Foster, Elementary Principal.

Secondary students met with Mrs. Peggy Thayer, Secondary Principal, who encouraged the students to get off to a good start and to follow the guidelines and policies of the district.

Students were led by 2008-09 Student Council Officers in games that will serve as the beginning for a “Spirit Stick” contest to be part of this year. GPA, attendance, spirit and sportsmanship at ball-games will be among the opportunities to earn points towards the award.

Students in all grades then returned to their respective classrooms for books, class descriptions, and other beginning of the year information.

There will be an estimated 380 students attending school in Hemingford, an increase of 20 students. This marks the third consecutive year that District 10 has increased in enrollment!
Younger brothers and sisters also came along in many cases to wave good-bye to siblings, and wanted to stay as well!

2008-09 promises to be a great year if the efforts of parents, teachers, and students are their very best!
