The Big Apple

6th grade field trip

by Robyn Prochazka

May 15, 2008

Have you ever been so excited you couldn't sit still?  This happened to our class on April 30, May 1, 2, and 3.  It was our 6th grade field trip. (Kaitlyn Bergfield)

On Thursday, May 1, 2008, the sixth grade class loaded the big Bobcat bus for their field trip to Lincoln, NE.  The first stop was at the Kearney Arch.  Everything in it looked realistic.  The students stopped at the Big Apple for arcade games and ballocity.  They stayed their first night at the First Lutheran Church in Kearney.  At 6:30 A.M. everyone packed and loaded the bus for Lincoln.  When they arrived in Lincoln, they stopped at Memorial Stadium.

It was interesting walking the the football field that most of the students have only seen on TV.  Students were also very surprised to see NE volleyball player, Sarah Pavan, at the stadium.  The 6th graders walked to Spaghetti Works and ate lunch, and then visited the NE Bookstore.  The next stop for the class was the capitol building.  After the tour of the capitol, the class went to the Air and Space Museum (SAC).

The class built model rockets, flew airplanes, went on a tour, and ate snacks.  Later that night, several classes watched a movie and slept underneath the fastest airplane in the world.  The whole sixth grade class had a great time.  They enjoyed every moment. (Cali Rohrbouck)

The sixth grade class would again like to thank all the individuals and businesses that made it possible for us to go on this trip. (Blake Hansen)
