"Great Walls of China!"
Seventh Graders Construct Class Projects
by Staff
November 28, 2007

Students in Mr. Chatelain’s fourth hour Social Studies Class have been busy lately, building sections of the Great Wall of China, a topic the seventh grade students have been studying.

Students were given instructions that included:
- making the final project fit on a 2’ by 3’ base of poster board;
- having a wall that tapers from bottom to top;
- the wall section must contain a guard tower and a gate that can open;
-the project must be made of recyclable materials; paint, and markers can be used to add realism;
- and the project, worth 100 points, would be completed by teams of students, usually two or three on each.

The students, A.J. Jesus, Kaitlyn Jespersen, JJ Forgey, Kyle Kumpf, Jesse Savala, Taylor Michael, Nicole Schekall, Makenzy Fernandes, Kip Irene, Jordan Glendy, Kayla Hanson, Casandra Elder, Cole Conner, Brady Behm, and Colby Johnson all presented a brief history of the section’s construction to the rest of the class, entertaining questions.

The project added to the learning from the unit, and another hands on project is planned for the spring semester.
