Educational Preparation: I attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln for 11/2 years. I then attended Chadron State College where I obtained my Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Math.
I began my teaching career in 1982 in the Hemingford school system. I taught a split class of 3rd-4th grade. I taught for 7 years before taking some time off to raise my sons. I came back into the Hemingford system in 1999 where I taught 2nd grade for three years. I then moved to the Middle School where I am currently teaching 6th grade and 5th grade Social Studies.
My husband and I farm and ranch 6 miles north of Hemingford. We have two sons. My youngest son, Todd, graduated from high school last May and is currently attending basics for the Air Force in San Antonio, Texas. After basics he plans to go to Washington to attend SERE training. My oldest son, Tyler, graduated from Hastings College and obtained an elementary education degree. After working in Branson, MO for three summers, he took a job teaching 5th grade in the Intermediate school. He is looking forward to his first year of teaching.
My hobbies are varied. I like to swim, ride my bike; visit with friends, and shop. I also enjoy doing cross-stitch when I have the time to do it. The thing I probably enjoy the most is snuggling down with a good book and reading.
My biggest goal for my students in 6th grade is to prepare them for Junior High and High School. I want to give them the knowledge and social skills that will allow them to be productive in the upper grades, as well as prepare them for life in general. I would like for my students to leave Middle School with a love for learning and a drive to become better learners.
