Student and Faculty Highlights of the Year

This page features athletic records, officers, themes, important numbers, important happenings, and other educational information from the year in question. It provides a quick and ready resource for Bobcat Grads and families!

Student Council Highlights –

Student Council Members – President – Mary Schekall; VP – Gailene Horstman; Sophmores – Stan Schekall, Sherri Wilson; Freshmen – Tim Kotschwar, Karen Gasseling

National Honor Society Members – Brian Cullan, Bruce Delsing, Michele Grabher, Brenda Jespersen, Tom Jones, Gay Kiester

Music Department – Vocal music instructor Becky Kenner overcame the shortage of male singers.  Instumental music director Sue Shaver led the band through clinics, concerts, parades, halftime shows and other special performances.

Drama and One Acts –

Football – With an 8-2 record earned class C-2 state playoff berth.  The Omaha World-Herald ranked the Cats 8th in the state.

Volleyball – Coach Duane Knaub concluded the season had no real disappointments and ended the season with 10 wins and 9 loses.

Cross Country –

Girls Basketball – The first year team headed by Coach John Stanton showed stead improvement and ended the season with a 3-11 record.

Boys Basketball – Winning three tournament championships and a trip to the Nebraska Boys Class C State Basketball Tournament constitutes a successful season and a 23-3 record.

Wrestling – Coach Rick Mellor and a team of six members did very well individually.

Girls Track and Field – Under the leadership of coach Duane Knaub the girls won the conference track championship.

Boys Track and Field – Coach Dale Rien sends three to the state track meet, Tom Zajic, Joe Lliteras, and Tom Manning.

Golf –Sponsor Don Hanks instead of a coach stated “self-discipline helped the boys get as far as they did.”

Homecoming Royalty – King – Grant Campbell; Queen – Colleen Katen; Attentdants – Mike Kresl, Gailene Horstman, Mary Schekall, Brian Wacker
