Tre and I at the Grand Canyon

Mr. Karney Byline

by Gordon Karney

August 11, 2008

 Hello I’m Gordon Karney,

I started teaching at Hemingford in 2004. I am Hemingford High School's FFA Advisor and Agricultural Education instructor.  I am also the head high school wrestling coach and the head 8th grade wrestling coach,  I graduated from Cheyenne East High School and was in the USMC from 1974 to 1979.

I attended college at University of Wyoming in Laramie, Wyoming.

I have been teaching, off and on, since 1986.  I taught in Lusk Wyoming for five years and in Bassett, Nebraska for six years.  In 1997 I took a break from teaching and spent the next seven years managing ranches in Colorado and Wyoming. Some of my hobbies and interests are horses, reading, going to the movies, enjoying my dogs, rifle marksmanship, hunting, and fishing.  I live with my wife Tresa Surbeck Karney (Tre) who I met in 1989 and married in 1990. In my spare time I enjoy reading, shooting, working with my horses, and going to the movies with Tre.
